Hi, my name is Lucie Dodge and I'm a Life Scout in Troop 657, Scouts BSA. I'm working towards my Eagle rank which is the highest rank in scouting. I am planning to create an official Monarch way station at the California Heights United Methodist Children's Center. A monarch way station is a butterfly garden that acts as a rest stop for Monarch butterflies during their annual migration. This project will educate children and the community about Monarchs and how we can protect them. I am hoping to raise $700 to plant a variety of butterfly-friendly plants that are native to California. In addition, I will be building a children's bench and creating informational signs about the importance of butterflies in our ecosystem.
Here is an idea of what your contribution will support:
Any amount you can contribute is appreciated!
- $10 = 1 alyssum plant
- $12 = 1 lavender or 1 common yarrow plant
- $20 = 1 milkweed plant
- $30 = 1 butterfly bush plant
- $40 = 1 blue curls plant
Thank you very much,
Lucie
