In June of 2022, Ruby's routine mammogram turned into a devastating blow. She was diagnosed with a particularly aggressive cancer called invasive ductile carcinoma. Since then, Ruby has been out of work and on a rollercoaster ride of appointments. She is now in the first few weeks of chemotherapy, remaining active and cheerful as she faces this new challenge. However, her medical bills are not covered, including reconstructive surgery. We strongly believe that a productive, responsible, and loving person like Ruby should never go into debt because of sickness, so we are going to do everything we can to prevent that from happening.

Ruby is a single mom who raised multiple children. Some of those were not her own but were raised as though they were. She survived an abusive marriage only to become the best version of herself, always providing a loving home for family and friends. Ruby has never asked for anything from anyone, so we, her children, were inspired to start this fundraiser on her behalf.
