Mommy's Angels Adoption Support Group was founded in November 2011. After 2 successful private domestic adoptions we (Scott and Laura) together with our son's birth mom, Meagan, created this group. The adoption journey can be overwhelming and lonely. Thankfully, we were blessed to have a cheerleader to guide us, give us encouragement and understand exactly what we were going through. We knew that everyone pursuing adoption needs this same support! We can't make the journey less bumpy, but we can certainly make it less lonely!
Each month, we meet with dozens of hopeful families, providing emotional support, adoption journey advice and one on one assistance. In between meetings, we field phone calls, text messages and emails from people locally and around the country...all for free. We want to keep it that way! We will never charge for our help! We have witnessed 127 babies in 5 years! Nothing better than seeing families grow via adoption! To date, we have given out $6,000 in grants to New York families!
There is still work to be done! Our grants stay local to Long Island and surrounding areas. We have contributed approximately $5,000 of our own funds for website design, business cards, and legal fees. We are officially a not-for-profit.
Our most exciting addition to our organization is the implementation of "Aunt Caren's Grant." Caren Peet, our adoption social worker recently passed away. Caren was a driving force in the adoption process for so many of us, and the reason our community exists. We will be providing grants to local families to help offset the high cost of adoption.
Our children have changed our hearts forever. We know how much this process effects each hopeful family's life. We hope to continue our mission of being the guiding light for years to come!
