"Sometimes it Takes a community!"

On Jan 17th, 2020 Aaron and Ashley’s world would change FOREVER. Ashley's brother, her best friend and the father of her unborn twin nephews had died leaving his family to try and pick up the pieces.

As an addict for years, the biological mother of the twins, clearly dealing with battles of her own, couldn’t offer much to the livelihood of these soon to be sweet babes.

Unfortunately nearing the end of her pregnancy she went on a bender and as a result went into early labour, giving birth to the boys on March 18th when they were only at 30 weeks gestation.

Born 10 weeks before their time, and addicted to several illicit drugs including, but not limited to, cocaine and fentanyl; these boys were off to a rough start.

With their father gone, and an unfit mother who wouldn’t be able to care for them, there was only one place these boys were headed...  For Aaron and Ashley that was NOT an option. These boys; Kingston and Kingsley deserved so much more. So without hesitation, Aaron and Ashley started the process to bring them home.

After countless weeks too and from the hospital along with the understanding that one of the twins may have some complications, they were almost at the finish line.....or so they thought.

At the wee age of 6 months old, Kingsley received his Official diagnosis for Cerebral Palsy. (a result of a ventricular cyst and PVL-Periventricular leukomalacia, most likely arising from clinical death at birth which caused oxygen deprivation.)

To put this into perspective most children don’t receive a diagnosis for Cerebral Palsy until at least 24months. But because of the severity, his diagnosis was advanced.

Kingsley is faced with many challenges daily. Suffering from constant leg tremors, painful muscle spasms, the complication of choking on his drool or milk during feeds and potential seizures (very hard to diagnose with his condition)

Let's not forget to mention Kingsley's inability to sleep for long periods of time, especially throughout the night. On countless occasions Aaron and Ashley have been woken from a dead sleep by those bone chilling screams, only to find Kingsley incredibly stiff with clenched fists and in pain. Making it through the night is just one part of the struggle. During the day on the other hand, Kingsley needs to be held constantly, trying to find some sense of comfort by either being rocked and/or sung to.

Just recently receiving a special tomato seat, Kingsley has been able to experience some resemblance of normalcy throughout his day. Having this form of mobility allows this sweet little soul to enjoy short bursts of happiness while seated in his chair!

Now, I have personally been friends with Aaron and Ashley for more than a decade, and can attest to the amount of effort they put forth for their family.

Having four children of their own, the twins and all of the necessary equipment now required for Kingsley; Aaron and Ashley are doing everything they possibly can to sustain their family...but they need our help.

Aaron's job is very demanding of his time and requires he be on the road for work. Traveling for work means seldom having time at home, and when he is, the majority of his time is spent “On call”; Isolated from his loved ones to perform work duties. This man works himself to the bone. He sacrifices so much to support his family. But he doesn't have a choice. Nor does Ashley.  She works tirelessly to manage the home front; EVERYTHING from the children, their homeschooling, the groceries, their house, and all of the ongoing appointments.

I have seen these struggles first hand. It's downright heartbreaking, but for them this is their "Norm".

These drained humans need a break!

Can you imagine having to split your children up between close family and friends just to be able to complete a small necessary task such as errands, appointments or even a quick grocery shop?

Well, unfortunately, Not having an eight passenger vehicle means HUGE Chaos and No other option for these parents.

Let's work together to get them back on track, help them get a vehicle that fits their families needs, support Kingsley's ongoing medical costs and position this family to live a life they so deserve.

Please note: Upon hours of research and reviewing potential additional funding, we have found most of which are income based. Certain cap restrictions eliminate the possibility to qualify. That being said having a family of 8 those cap restrictions pose a huge challenge and limitations. So we're reaching out for help in another way. Every little bit counts!

Selfless people like Aaron and Ashley need this break!

Please donate if you can, if not no worries, maybe a quick share to a few friends might help us to reach a few others.

Thank you.

Kindest Regards,

Carley
