Wheelchair accessible van for Taevion
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Tainica Norris I am a single mom of 4, I am fundraising for my 16-year-old son Taevion who has been diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy in 2016. This illness started when he was in the sixth grade, every time we would go shopping or at any family function Taevion was the last person to come in. Taevion was very active he went from running, jumping, climbing, and walking to now being in a powered wheelchair. In 2016 things took a whole 360-degree turn. I received a phone call from the school's gym teacher saying he noticed that my son's walking pace is very slow. After the phone call, I made him an appointment with his primary doctor to do a complete physical to see why he is walking slowly, that's when things went down the drain first his enzyme level was too high from staying weeks in the hospital to being referred to Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital in Chicago Illinois where they completed all blood work and test results that when we received the diagnose. After being diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy they told me it could get worse and it did get worse. In a blink of an eye, he was falling down and then stop walking. I went from working full-time to being a stay-at-home mom taking care of my 16-year-old son and his siblings. I am asking for support and donations so I can transport Taevion to his doctor's appointments, and physical therapy and pick him up from school when he is sick, and go to church and family outings. The reason why I want and need this van is to replace my small 2013 Hyundai Accent hatchback. Traveling as a family has been very hard for me along with two car seats for a 4, and 5 year old, and my 9-year-old daughter squeezing in the middle, I pick him up put him in the portable wheelchair push the wheelchair to the car and pick him up sit him in the car folding the portable wheelchair up putting it in the trunk, once we arrive to our destination I'll park the car take out of the trunk his portable wheelchair unfold it pick him up sit him in the wheelchair and go in the house. It is very tight for me and my four children to travel around town, the van will give us enough room to be comfortable for traveling. The funds will be used to purchase the mobility van for comfortable traveling. If you are able, I am asking for your help in donating. I encourage you all to share this page far and wide on all social media outlets. Even if you cannot donate at this time, please share so it can reach someone else that may be able to contribute.
Thank you in advance for your love and support!
