This funding support would make it possible for Yolanda Davis-Overstreet (film director and mobility justice advocate in communities of color) to attend the upcoming BETTER CITIES FILM FESTIVAL in Detroit on October 7th - 10th - (airfare, film fest lodging, and travel in Detroit).
Since this majority of Yolanda's advocacy work has been community service, this support would not only make it possible for her to attend this event as the film director, it would also allow her to continue to heighten the shared narratives in the documentaries that speak on behalf of Black Lives and BIPOC in the areas of pedestrian safety, bicycling, and the power of activating mobility-justice paired with storytelling.
Yolanda's recently completed short documentaries made possible by SCAG/Go Human Mini-Grants, WALK THE BLVD, and BIKING WHILE BLACK will be featured at the festival.
All donations need to be received by October 6th in order to purchase the airline ticket and lodging.
UPDATE: We will be extending this campaign to October 12th (the final date) to reach our goal! All the donations I have received to date have played a vital role in getting me to Detroit, but the expenses are still not fully covered yet! We are so close and want to keep the momentum growing to increase this advocacy work in solidarity!
