Insert Vegan Meals that Heal, Inc. Since December 29, 2019, myself, my mother and my children alongside several beautiful individuals have pushed out 2,826 plant-based plates of love to our community members facing food insecurity. According to the Atlanta Community Food Bank, over an estimated 755,400 people in the metro Atlanta area have no idea where their next meal will be coming from. Typically, when food is given to under-served and or unhoused individuals, the last thing taken into consideration is the direct link between diet and health. Most people are approached with a “Beggars can’t be choosers” mentality and I believe it is up to us as a community to be the change we wish to see. Vegan Meals that Heal, Inc. is asking you to unite as we create a mobile donation-based food truck. Everyone will be able to get a warm meal, ice cold water, fresh fruit and a plentitude of care regardless of what is or is not in their pockets. Our produce will primarily be locally sourced from urban farmers, we will hire a prep cook, expeditor and a chef, and we will create a safe space to continue to serve our community with humility and cruelty free meals.
We are asking for donations to help purchase a food truck and supplies to begin to manifest this dream into a reality. Veganism should be as beautifully presented to our brothers and sisters suffering from food insecurity as it would be to a foodie reviewing a Michelin star restaurant. I am grateful for each and every individual who stirs the compassion in their heart to lend a helping hand to someone who needs you.
