My Father, Our Strength

My father is an innocent, strong, and hardworking man who has always put his family first. Every day of his life has been dedicated to providing for us. He worked long hours, often coming home exhausted, yet he never let his tiredness stop him from being a loving father. Everything he did was for his children—to make sure we had food on the table, a roof over our heads, and hope for a better future.

Our lives changed suddenly and painfully when ICE detained my father. In one moment, the foundation of our family was taken away. Since that day, our home no longer feels the same. The laughter has faded, the silence has grown heavier, and every corner of our house reminds us of his absence. My younger siblings wake up every day asking for him, hoping he will walk through the door. Watching their hearts break has been one of the most painful things I’ve ever experienced.

My father is not a criminal. He is a provider, a protector, and a man who has always lived with dignity and integrity. Yet he is being kept away from the family that depends on him the most. Without him here, the responsibilities have fallen on the rest of us. I’ve had to step up in ways I never imagined, trying to be strong for my siblings while struggling with my own fear and sadness. Some nights feel overwhelming, and the uncertainty of what lies ahead weighs heavily on us all.

Beyond the emotional pain, we are facing serious financial hardship. My father was the main provider for our family. His detention has left us struggling to cover basic necessities as a bills, and legal expenses. Every day is a challenge, and we are doing our best to stay afloat while holding onto hope that he will come home to us.
