The Human Rights Campaign Foundation identifies problems and challenges LGBTQ+ people face, then follows a clear model for effecting change.

They work to change hearts, minds, and systems across America and the world to make transformational change in the everyday lives of LGBTQ+ people.

The HRC Foundation funds a series of campaigns and programs that build better and more inclusive communities for LGBTQ+ people, including but not limited to:

All Children - All Families: The only national program dedicated to LGBTQ+ inclusion in child welfare (foster care and adoption agencies) that provides resource development, training, and service delivery for LGBTQ+ prospective parents and youth in out-of-home care.

Welcoming Schools Program: Provides bullying prevention training and resources for educators and youth-serving professionals with an intersectional, anti-racist perspective that help create LGBTQ+ and gender inclusive schools and support transgender and non-binary students.

Transgender Justice Initiative: Combats discrimination faced by transgender people by addressing urgent needs of the transgender community and addressing the root causes of physical danger, hatred, and discrimination faced by transgender people. They focus on public safety, leadership development of transgender non-profit leaders, lifting up the stories of transgender and gender non-conforming people with a focus on people of color, and highlighting inclusive employment opportunities to combat the higher unemployment rates faced by transgender and gender non-conforming people.

They provide Research and Reporting that drives digital campaigns and tools that deepen the public's understanding of LGBTQ+ people and the issues they face, including but not limited to:

Their Corporate Equality Index, which provides transparency while tracking and pushing for additional growth in equitable workplace policies, practices, and benefits

Their Healthcare Equality Index, which evaluates over 1,700 healthcare facilities nationwide to promote equitable and inclusive care for LGBTQ+ patients and their families

Their Impact Litigation and Advocacy team files lawsuits and works on cases involving the protection and expansion of the rights of LGBTQ+ people that bring about positive systemic changes. Their past work has involved fighting against discriminatory laws that deny trans rights to access bathrooms consistent with their gender identity, laws that deny trans rights to participate in sports, and discriminatory businesses that seek permission to deny services to same-sex couples.

The HRC Foundation envisions a world free of bias, discrimination, inequality and antipathy — one in which all lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer people plus community members who use different language to describe identity (LGBTQ+) can participate fully in the systems and traditions that govern our daily lives.
