Cassandra and Olena are two courageous mothers who have faced unimaginable challenges. After enduring years of abuse, they made the difficult and brave decision to leave everything behind to protect their children and rebuild their lives. Now, they need our support to start fresh.

Olena’s Story

Olena is a Ukrainian refugee who arrived in the U.S. in June 2023, leaving behind her family and country in search of safety. Alone and vulnerable, she faced an abusive relationship that escalated during her pregnancy. At just three months pregnant, she escaped after a horrific night of physical violence, finding refuge at Interval House, a shelter for survivors of domestic abuse.

Despite these hardships, Olena has worked tirelessly to learn English and prepare for employment—all while welcoming her newborn baby boy just two months ago. Funds raised will help Olena secure transportation, childcare, and supplies for her son, including a stroller, formula, and clothing.

Cassandra’s Story

Cassandra is a devoted mother of two children, including a 4-year-old daughter. She bravely escaped an abusive relationship, seeking help when her life and pregnancy were threatened. With support from Interval House, Cassandra built a safe home, gained essential skills, and dreamed of becoming a nurse.

However, her journey took a devastating turn last year when she was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer, forcing her to stop working and put her dreams on hold. Despite everything, Cassandra remains determined to pursue nursing and build a better future for her family. Funds will help cover her living expenses, transportation, and support her ongoing treatment and recovery.
