The journey for Asher Cax began not with an elaborate plan, but with a stark realization of the burden shouldered by a specific group of women in the community of Mityana, Uganda. Asher chose this cause because he saw a critical intersection of vulnerability and unmet potential: the struggle of single mothers to provide for their newborn babies and secure a future for their older children.

The Unbearable Choice

In Mityana, as in many communities, the economic hardship falls most heavily on single women. They are often responsible for being the sole provider, a task made nearly impossible by high unemployment and the challenge of accessing stable, gainful work. Asher learned the painful reality these mothers face every day:

The Struggle for Life's Start: Mothers lack the funds for basic formula and nutrition for their newborns, forcing them to make heartbreaking choices about how to keep their infants fed and healthy.

The Barrier of Education: Older children, full of promise, are kept out of school because their mothers simply cannot afford the school fees and necessary materials. This locks the next generation into the same cycle of poverty.

The Lack of Basics: Beyond food and school, essential resources like soap, medical care, and clothing are often out of reach.

Asher Cax understood that while poverty is widespread, the support directed toward single mothers acts as a critical point of transformation. By stabilizing the mother, you stabilize the entire family unit.

His decision to launch this fundraiser was rooted in the understanding that these mothers are not looking for handouts; they are hardworking, resilient individuals who desperately need a temporary lift—a foundation of food and education—to stand on their own.

Asher’s goal is to turn his empathy into tangible support: to provide the basic necessities that prevent a newborn from going hungry and to unlock the future for an older child by covering their school fees. He chose to focus on the single mothers of Mityana because addressing their immediate crisis is the fastest, most effective way to protect the most vulnerable in the community: the children.
