My name is Jayla Jenkins and I am a fourth year biomedical engineering student minoring in Health and medical sciences at Esteemed Georgia Institute of Technology.
Hailing all the way from McDonough Ga, I am a Lizanne and Robert Milton scholar. Here you may find me in the Botchwey laboratory harvesting cells as an undergraduate researcher, a student assistant at the office of undergraduate education, an ideation media intern with the athletic association and SO much more.
I know that friendship is essential to the soul.
My friendships have enriched my life by celebrating each other's successes and standing by them through life’s many challenges. Which is why when my childhood best friend lost her sister to domestic violence, I felt that loss deeply. In America, we have a problem. 1 in 4 women and specifically 40% of black women and 1 in 7 men will experience physical violence by their partners in their lifetime. That is why, in honor of Ladonna Judkins, I will be fighting for ALL domestic violence victims by raising money and awareness for the Domestic Violence Awareness Project. Support me and my mission as I claim my crown as your next Miss Omega Psi Phi.
