Turn the 3rd Precinct into a Civil Rights Museum

Donation protected
On May 25, 2020, George Floyd’s death sparked civil rights protests across the world. Three days after his death, the MPD 3rd Precinct was overwhelmed by protesters and burned down. Now we will build an everlasting civil rights landmark in its place to remind us that together we can change the world.

The Minneapolis Civil Rights Museum Project is a multiracial community of individuals who are driven to create a permanent symbol of justice for racial equality on the grounds of the MPD 3rd Precinct.  Our growing army of volunteers and partners donate their time and expertise to make this modern day civil rights landmark a reality.

A conscientious group of community members, architects, lawyers, planners and designers have already volunteered their time to create a landmark monument that will help heal the nation and generate ongoing income that will be reinvested to improve the community of South Minneapolis.

We need your donations, input, and vision to make the Minneapolis Museum of Civil Rights a reality.  Your donations will help push the project forward, raise funds for construction costs, and create a permanent symbol of justice for racial equality.

Our initial request of $25,000 will help us grow the Minneapolis Civil Rights Museum Project, identify fundraising and grant opportunities, and increase our community outreach efforts to solicit ideas to improve the museum.  Our initial estimate for the construction of the building is $25-30 million.  As community feedback is collected and the vision for the building becomes solidified, we will be able to provide additional information about the full cost of construction for the museum.

Help us raise funds by donating and encouraging your employer to make a corporate contribution.  Share the petition.  And use your influence to help turn the tide of police violence.

In honor of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and all other victims of police brutality.
