We are members of the Minneapolis Rapid Response teams trying to raise funds to support PPE, and saftey equipment for our community members legally observing and defending themselves against unconstitutional federal immigration enforcement in Minnesota.
Why
Right now, our communities are facing a horrifying crisis. The federal government has deployed increasingly aggressive Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations across Minnesota that are exceeding their lawful authority, with devastating and now lethal consequences.
Community members (including school children) are being harassed, beaten, detained, and threatened daily. In just the past week, ICE agents attacked school children and fatally shot Renee Good an unarmed Minnesota woman in Minneapolis during these actions.
Community members who are simply observing, documenting, and asserting their rights are met with violence and intimidation instead of protection and transparency.
The ACLU of Minnesota and local civil rights lawyers have filed a lawsuit asserting that federal agents have repeatedly violated Minnesotans’ constitutional rights to free speech, assembly, and protection against unreasonable searches and seizures.
At the same time, local law enforcement has either stood by or enabled these incursions. Dispite standing orders and policy, Police are not stepping in to enforce constitutional protections when federal agents overreach.
This leaves us, everyday people, neighbors, parents, workers, to confront these abuses with little legal support and significant personal risk.
How
A member of Rapid Response for Minneapolis (name kept anonymous for saftey) will handle the funds and purchasing. Then will work with additional Rapid Response members for distribution to as many other community members as funds allow.
There will be purchase updates posted along with identification redacted receipts for tracking and transparency.
If after equipment needs are met there is a surplus, excess funds will be donated either to the ACLU of Minnesota or Monarca.
What
- First: Fund PPE and saftey equipment for legal observers, so people can safely and lawfully document ICE activity.
Then If funds allow:
-Printing for educational and Know Your Rights resources
- Support families and individuals harmed financially, medically, or emotionally by unlawful federal actions.
- Advocate for accountability, transparency, and constitutional rights on behalf of our neighbors.
We Are Not Calling for Violence.
We are not asking people to obstruct lawful law enforcement, and we do not condone unlawful interference. What we do stand for is this:
- Communities can legally observe and document ICE actions in public spaces under the First Amendment.
- Everyone deserves protection from unreasonable searches and seizures under the Fourth Amendment.
- No one should live in fear of being shot, harassed, or detained without due process.
Stand With Us
If you believe in civil liberties, the rule of law, and protecting vulnerable communities, especially when the institutions who are supposed to enforce the laws are those breaking them, please donate and share this campaign.
Thank you.
