I'm Elliot. I set up Mind Your Music in Bristol in 2003 to help people struggling with mental health difficulties, using the most powerful tool I know - music. You can find out more about my personal story at the bottom of this page.
As human beings, music is our oldest communication tool and it's been bringing people together ever since we've been on the planet. I believe music is an ancient force and has a spiritual purpose way beyond making someone rich or famous.
A few years ago we set up a similar group in Frome, extending our work into the more rural areas. We run mixed music workshops involving drumming, singing and other instruments. I've been immensely touched by the people we've been working with in Frome. Their courage and sense of mutual support has been so inspiring. We've taught music to 1000s of people over the years and I can honestly say this is one of the nicest groups of people I've ever had the pleasure of working with. We are a small organization that believe in spending as much time as possible with the people we are supposed to benefit. No big campaigns just a small dedicated team who believe music has the power to change lives. Unfortunately new rules introduced by the Somerset Community Fund, excludes us from applying for more funding. Now, if you have an income of over 5k, you can only apply if you are a registered charity and because they are an umbrella group, administering lots of different grants, it means we can't apply for most local funding in Frome. At the moment we are far too small an organization to cope with the extra paperwork being a registered charity will bring.
We've seen the major difference this has made to vulnerable peoples lives but now we need your support to help us continue helping others. Please donate today help us keep bringing music to vulnerable people in Frome.
