Milne Family Support Fund

Donation protected
This gofundme is aimed at raising funds to help support Robin Milne and her children after the recent passing of their husband and father, Chris Milne. Chris passed away unexpectedly on January 21, 2021. Chris was the primary caretaker of the family as Robin was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2018 and is currently battling Stage 4 terminal metastatic cancer. While working full-time, Chris was responsible for most household duties, taking care of his ill wife all the while trying to raise their two children, Isla (6 years old) and Lochlan (4 years old).

With Chris’s premature passing our hopes are to raise funds as soon as possible in order to facilitate care for Robin, Isla and Lochlan. The funds will provide the support needed to allow Robin to stay in the family home with her two children. There is an outstanding mortgage on the house, Robin will need assistance with childcare and medical support for herself, along with general household duties including day-to-day meal prep and chores.

Robin was originally diagnosed after weening her youngest child from breastfeeding in June 2018. She had discovered a lump and thought initially it was a blocked milk duct. The doctors sent her for precautionary tests which came back with a diagnosis of Stage 2 breast cancer. In July 2018 Robin started chemotherapy which continued until December of the same year. She eventually had a lumpectomy in January 2019 and was told there were no signs of cancer on January 29, 2019. As an extra precaution she continued with radiation from February 2019 to April 2019. During the summer of 2019, her oncologist was on leave and their replacement reviewed Robin’s health history as Robin was experiencing pain from an unknown source. After this investigation, a biopsy confirmed Robin had cancer in the spine and was diagnosed with Stage 4 metastatic cancer on May 30, 2019. In September 2019, Robin went through experimental radiation on her spine. This weakened and fractured her spine and has caused extreme fatigue.

20-30% of Stage 2 breast cancer patients have a re-diagnosis of metastatic cancer. The median lifespan for someone with Robin’s diagnosis was December 2020, and she is now living on borrowed time. Robin’s wish is to remain in the family home caring for her 2 young children as long as reasonably possible.

The Milne’s and their families and friends appreciate your support during this difficult time for the family and truly thank you for any donation you are able to contribute.
