Milly's Bone Marrow Transplant Journey

Hi there, my name is Kris and and I am fundraising for our daughter Milly.

Milly who is 16 was diagnosed with a little known rare condition called Aplastic anemia, (sometimes known as Bone marrow failure). The condition means that Milly's own bone marrow cannot make blood cells so she requires regular blood transfusions, platlete transfusions, and because she is extremely vulnerable to infection due to her depleted immune system, strong medications and long regular stays in hospital when she spikes a temperature are unfortunately quite common. This treatment will continue until August when Milly will be admitted to Manchester Royal children's hospital for Chemotherapy as a pretreatment for a bone marrow transplant. Milly will be kept in clinical isolation for a long period of her hospital stay which will probably last 2 or 3 months depending on how the treatment goes. Mum Lynn and Milly desperately want to stay together during her long stay in hospital however the demands of employment, income and travel costs to the hospital are making this look impossible as the funds just aren't there for Lynn to take time off work. Lynn and Milly have also very recently been informed that their rented home of 12 years is now being sold so will now have to move. The financial strain at this time is very real during a time when we would love to be there for Milly and talk about things like driving lessons or planning her very first trip abroad when she is recovered. Milly is an incredibly brave and wonderful young lady, She achieved collage distinctions all from her hospital bed, and at 16 we want to make sure we can support, and be there for her as much as we possibly can.
