At the beginning of the Coronavirus pandemic, Millennium CIC combined forces with Healthy Living Platform (HLP) and Lambeth Borough Council to transform the under used Southwyck House Community Hall.
Now, the Community Hall has become a hub for these organisations to work from. We are able to offer food parcels to those in our community who might need them, we run workshops and activities to both educate and entertain, we hold cook and eat sessions and we deliver food parcels and ready cooked meals from the kitchen at Southwyck Hall for those shielding or isolating.
Our clients are from a beautifully diverse array of locations, from the West Indies to Africa to East Asia (and beyond!), and are often presented with unfamiliar food items. We hope that by delivering recognisable regional ingredients to households, we can continue to limit food waste, streamline food distribution and help everyone make healthy food choices. Your kind donation will provide regionally appropriate produce and ingredients to our service users and to support Millennium CIC's efforts within the communities of Lambeth.
Millennium CIC have been working with Lambeth Borough Council on the food poverty action plan, and we are particularly interested in creating more community food hubs across London. Places in local neighbourhoods for people to come together, collect their food parcels, hot cooked meals and develop their cooking skills (as well as find a sense of community!).
If you would like to support this side of Millennium Community Solutions' operations, please donate whatever you can.
