Miles for smiles: Running for support (and a few blisters)

Donation protected
So, I laced up my trainers and took on the London Marathon, having finally got in through the public ballot after plenty of failed attempts! I’ve run a couple of marathons before, but after 12 months of a "running break" it was challenging to get back into training. As such I wasn't chasing a personal best, it was about rediscovering my running legs and doing something meaningful in the process.

What a trip it was! It wasn't my day unfortunately and it was brutal out there with the heat. All went to plan up to k 26 but after that the body played up and I struggled to move in the end, even walking. But I made it, I am proud to say and that's all that counts, right?

I will take all the good things from this day - the amazing support from the crowd and from friends, family and colleagues. That was just so wonderful!

I also ran, for the first time, to raise funds for charities, two in fact which are close to my heart: Cancer Research UK and the MS Trust. Both are amazing and I want to support the incredible work these organisations do.

Cancer Research UK is leading the fight against cancer, funding game-changing research to improve treatments and, hopefully, find a cure.
The MS Trust provides vital support to people living with multiple sclerosis, helping them navigate life with this complex condition.

Every pound you donate will be split equally between these two fantastic charities. Your support means the world to me (and it has been an incredible motivation).

Thank you!
