Hi, my name is Eli and I am 15 years old.
On Wednesday 9th September, a group of us are lacing up our boots and walking to the home of Derby County, Pride Park,
to raise Money for the Jeff Astle Foundation.
The Jeff Astle Foundation does vital work supporting former footballers and their families affected by brain injury's. Raising awareness of the importance of brain health in football.
We will be walking 40miles/64K! Starting from The Hawthorns and finishing at Pride Park. Every single step is crucial for the Foundation's research, education and support service.
Football is a huge part of my life. Following West Bromwich Albion home and away has always been my favourite thing to do. We sing a song which has the words "Astle is the King"
Unfortunately his life was cut short due to dementia which is so heart-breaking to hear. His family members set up the foundation in his honour. I have been in contact with Jeff's daughter Dawn Astle who has been a great support in arranging all this. She does amazing work for the charity and we all want her to know that her work does not go unnoticed.
Our main aim for the walk is to raise vital funds for the foundation and spread awareness for the charity which is making a real difference to past, present and future players.
