I first met Robert McCoid through my unfortunate struggle with alcohol in 2007. On February 27, 2010, I had my last encounter with alcohol. At that pivotal moment, Rob laid out a blueprint of what my life could be without alcohol. He was unbelievably brilliant! He saved my life and became my sponsor! Sadly, Rob recently lost his courageous battle with cancer.
In his honor, I decided to run the Ogden Half Marathon 8 consecutive times, totaling 104.8 miles in under 32 hours. What started out as simply running some miles in the dark for my man Rob McCoid; morphed into something unforgettable. Let this be an example of the energy, passion, and perseverance this man instilled in me and the people around him. Rob has played an instrumental role in the man I have become today.
Per he and his family's wishes, donations in Rob's honor can be made to the Miracles Happen Recovery House in Toccoa, GA. I would be forever grateful for your support in fund raising for an organization that Rob was so passionate about. An organization dedicated to helping men, like myself, focus on recovery as a way of life.
I will continue to run for Rob. And I encourage you to run, walk, hike, or bike and log some miles for the Rob in your life.
