Support for our Eskasoni Mi’kmaq Fishers
Donation protected
As you know, Mi’kmaq Fishers are tirelessly asserting their right to access the fishery for a moderate livelihood. Each time they drop their traps there is at least 20 non-indigenous commercial vessels out there, waiting on the water, ready to go cut their lines and sink their traps. This is happening all day, everyday.
So far, Mi’kmaq fishers have lost a substantial amount of gear (traps, rope, buoys). In addition, Mi’kmaq fishers are losing income and the expenses are rising.
We cannot lose the battle to assert access to the moderate livelihood fishery because Mi’kmaq fishers are running out of resources to continue. We have to help! If you have it in you to give, even just a dollar, you will be contributing to an important cause. You’ll also be an integral support to keep Mi’kmaq fishers exercising their right to a moderate livelihood.
