Hi, my name is Caroline and I'm fundraising to try and purchase, my son Mike, a communication aid, just for one minute sit and think about how you would manage if you couldn't speak but desperately wanted to???? Now imagine that all your life I've never done a go fund me page before but have had to because we have have tried to get funding from charities and have been unsuccessful and in July he made the huge step of going into supported living, Mike is 31 and non-verbal, he has autism and epilepsy and this has effected the speech part of his brain and has been unable to speak all his life apart from 2 words "Mum" & "No", he tries his best to form other works but bless him he can't, he is an amazing, loving outgoing young man now which is a massive change from the child we couldn't go near because he was so afraid of everything around him, now loves the theatre, the pub, meals out, bowling, but his biggest passion is LFC, all the hard work has paid off and I am so very proud but he still CAN'T SPEAK. He now needs a voice that everyone can understand in his new home because he uses signs ATM and as we all know not everyone signs and even though Mike and I have been up to teach some staff some basics it takes a long time to know as much as Mike does. He has had an assessment for the AAC (alternative augmented communication) and passed with flying colours but the device and license that he needs will cost £3500 so if you can help in any way to give my son the same chances in life that everyone who can talk has then we will be forever grateful.
Thank you
