Hi, my name is Kaitlin Machovec and I am fundraising for my dad, Mike Machovec. He was in an accident at work on March 8th, 2023 involving a pallet weighing over 2500 pounds. The pallet fell on both legs which required surgery for over 7 hours. It was touch and go for a while but the surgeons did an amazing job and they were able to fix both legs.

He broke 2 bones in his left leg and currently has 2 plates, rods, and screws in place and will not be able to put any weight on it for at least 6 weeks. He dislocated his knee on his right leg and tore almost every ligament in the right knee. He tore an artery in the right leg and had to use a vein from the left leg to bypass the artery. Thankfully one of the first responders placed a tourniquet on the right leg to stop the bleeding and saved his life. He also required multiple skin grafts on his lower right leg to cover the wounds from previous surgeries.

He still has a long recovery ahead of him and more surgeries in the future but is taking it one day at a time. He will be out of work for at least a year and will be have to rehab and relearn how to do every day activities.
