Hello Family & Friends! I am starting this to help my oldest daughter, Sydnee, her husband Mikal, their 13 month old son & their unborn baby!
On July 9th, Mikal age 23 developed a high fever of 102-103, chills & lethargic. He tested for Covid & was negative.
July 12th, His fever broke only to return again with a vengeance. He decided to go stay with his parents, while Sydnee & Malakai stayed with James & I.
July 13th, His fever got bad again. He was taken to the ER. Tested for Covid (negative again) & was told he had a viral infection, but they didn’t know what & he was released.
July 15th, His fever was still high & he collapsed as he tried to stand. His brother had to carry him to the car & into hospital. He went back to the ER (a different one) was tested again for Covid (negative), had an MRI, CT scan, brain scan & was diagnosed with meningitis & a possible mini stroke. At this point they decided to admit him.
July 16th, He received a spinal tap & antibiotics treating for both viral & bacterial meningitis. Is staying in hospital until further notice.
July 19th, Mikal is still in the hospital receiving incredible care. The meningitis is still surrounding part of his brain, he still does not have the ability to use his legs without scooting with a walker. He will have to rehabilitate at home Since they have a 13 month old & one on the way, Sydnee is unable to give him the treatment he needs so, he will have to stay with his parents for at least a month until the fluid in his brain is gone & he gets the use of his legs back.
July 20th, the Dr prescribed another MRI to see if there has been any change & see why he is still unable to use his legs. Several friends & family members have gone up to see & are continuing to do so. July 21st, MRI results came with no change, which is good I suppose as it hasn’t gotten worse. We are not sure when he will be released from the hospital.
This has all been very hard on all of us! Mikal’s parents & family have worked out shifts so he has never had to be alone. James & I have wiped Sydnee’s tears, helped take care of Kai & been keeping her here with us & we have re-enforced to her that the only thing she can do right now is take care of herself, their babies & pray! Mikal is a fighter!! We are all keeping our faith strong knowing who the almighty Healer is & this too shall pass. I just ask if you are the praying person, please lift up Mikal, Sydnee, Malakai, their unborn child, Mikal’s family & my family into your prayers!
Mikal does not have health insurance & is obviously unable to work at this time. So Sydnee is the only one who can work. They have a beautiful home they just started renting in April & bills are starting to be due again.
We are asking if you can help in anyway with this amazing young family, we would greatly appreciate it.
God only gives his hardest battles to his strongest soldiers, but I won’t lie I’m starting to feel weak. Thank you all!
