My name is Matthew Biancaniello and I am a chef, marathon swimmer, father of 11 year old twin boys and lover of life.
On Sept 22, 2025, I embarked on one of the greatest challenges of my life: a 21 mile open ocean swim from Catalina Island to Palos Verdes, CA. I dedicated my swim to raise money and awareness for an incredible organization, Indivisible Arts, a nonprofit mission-driven to teaching consciousness, life tools and creativity to kids.

My connection to Indivisible Arts is not coincidental, but deeply personal. Their work reflects the very tools that carried me through the most difficult chapter of my life—a chapter defined by profound loss, physical hardship, and the question of how to keep moving forward when everything familiar had been stripped away.
Over a five year period I have endured a lot of loss. My restaurant burned down in the Woosley fire after only being open for one month, I had major back surgery and my father, brother, mother and both my in-laws passed away. That strong sense of grief and numbness became the catalyst and inspiration to put my resilience to the test.
Ocean swimming has been the greatest anchor in my healing journey, and the practice of showing up and being present has ultimately shaped my path to consistency, mental clarity and a strength I never knew I had. This invitation has allowed me to cultivate more peace and zest into my life and to bring forth who I really am.
During the swim to Palos Verdes, I faced unforeseen challenges that pushed me far beyond expectations. While my team and I hoped to complete the swim in 12 to 14 hours, the journey ultimately took 18 hours and 19 minutes. In those hardest moments, I returned to my why—supporting young people with the very tools that helped carry me through my darkest chapters.
That’s why I’m proud to support Indivisible Arts, a nonprofit that empowers young people through mindfulness and creative expression. Their FundamentaLIFE Tools and curriculum teaches the next generation the mindfulness tools I wish I had learned earlier in life: awareness, acceptance, intention, gratitude, compassion, forgiveness and connection.
What I had to spend my whole life learning, through trial and error, these kids at Indivisible Arts are getting now: a playground for internal actualization through creativity and mindfulness in a supportive environment that encourages growth and self-expression.
Students not only cultivate these tools to meet life on life’s terms... they embody them. They translate emotional growth into artistic expression through open studio time, working in mediums like 3D design, music production, painting, fashion, photography, resin art and more.
For over ten years, Indivisible Arts has made access a priority, never turning away a student due to financial need. The more than 18,000 dollars raised through this swim allows the Biancaniello Scholarship Fund to carry that legacy forward for deserving youth.
The fund supports students who may not otherwise have access to mental and emotional health resources, including students affected by cancer, system-affected youth, and foster youth. Indivisible Arts defines success through its students retaining and using these tools in their daily lives—resulting in young people who are spiritually aware, physically balanced, mentally sharp, and emotionally calm.

Your support can transform grief into growth, pain into purpose, and struggle into strength. Every contribution helps provide underserved youth with access to vital mindfulness tools and creative expression through Indivisible Arts’ transformative programs.
