Friends,
How do you shelter-in-place when you have no place?
We need your help. The homeless community of New York City is one of the most marginalized groups of people in our nation - and now, they are hurting more than ever. With recent closures of subways and shelters, many of them don't have the proper resources and necessities to protect themselves from the wrath of COVID-19.
We are asking for support so we can raise funds to distribute masks, gloves, hand sanitizer, food, and other resources to the homeless men and women in Manhattan. We are working with Midnight Run -- an incredible volunteer organization dedicated to finding common ground between the housed and the homeless.
Midnight Run coordinates over 1,000 relief missions per year, in which volunteers from churches, synagogues, schools and other civic groups distribute food, clothing, blankets and personal care items to the homeless poor on the streets of New York City. The late-night relief efforts create a forum for trust, sharing, understanding and affection. That human exchange, rather than the exchange of goods, is the essence of the Midnight Run mission.
Any amount is deeply appreciated. The need is dire right now. It's so easy to forget the underserved and poverty-stricken among us during this time. Thank you for your consideration, and for opening your hearts to our brothers and sisters in need.
