If I’ve learned anything in the past twenty eight years of my life in Midland, Texas, it's that our community is one that loves, cares, and supports like no other! Recently, I was invited to take part in updating the briefing room at the Midland Police Department. Upon walking in, I felt as if I had walked back in time. My face must have given me away, as I was informed that it had been twenty years since the department had seen any sort of update... (outside of a freshly painted wall here and there.) I have dedicated my design skill set to creating work environments that are representative of the work being done in a space. This briefing room acts as a common space where the officers will meet EVERY DAY, and I feel it's important for it to adequately exemplify a new age of professionalism for the officers and their high calling of work.

When I saw the task before me, I immediately knew this was bigger than a fresh coat of paint and a new wall hanging. The department was generous enough to provide me with a budget, and as I began to brainstorm the design, an idea occurred. What if I donated my time and labor as a token of my appreciation? At one point or another, we have all needed MPD. What if the community of Midland Texas rallied around our officers and joined me in thanking them? What if this was more than just redesign? What if we collectively raised the money to give these officers the space that they deserve? What if we were a part of making Midland Better? We have watched these officers selflessly lay their lives on the line for our city day-by-day, wouldn’t it be amazing to band together and show them our appreciation? I’ve set the limit to this go fund me to $15,000, with a guarantee every Penny will go toward updating the facility. The briefing room is my priority, but it’s not the only outdated room so any excess money that is raised will be carried throughout the rest of the department for updates. We can do something really cool here, Midland. Will you consider joining me?
Each of us are freely given gifts and talents, so I truly believe that from time-to-time we are meant to do just that, gift them to others! With your donation and support, I can’t wait to see the transformation of the Midland Police Department. Let’s support our officers who work vigorously for our community everyday and give them a work environment and space that makes them feel appreciated!
