Mid City Community Cookouts
The Community Cookouts was inspired by Heleo Leyva where 100 plates of free food are served to the community. You can read more about it here: https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2020-11-27/street-vendor-quesadilla-coronavirus-thanksgiving-generosity
Heleo then entrusted our friend Manny Mireles to run a Community Cookout at Mid-City, which takes place outside his business (https://www.instagram.com/yeajyalhalhj/) on the weekends.
The Community Cookouts are 100% funded by donations. We collect funds for the local vendors to prepare and serve 100 plates of food to the community. These Community Cookouts are not just about providing a free meal, but it has become a gathering of business owners, volunteers, and local community in the Mid City Area to gather and support each other. We believe that one hot meal can change a person's day. We work in support of the community with no judgements, questions and give freely to anyone who shows up.
