Michelle's Birthday Lahaina Relief Fund

Donation protected
Aloha.

It is my birthday this week and I would like to celebrate by giving back to the community and to the sacred land that has my heart.

Some of you may know that I lived on Maui about 15 years ago. Maui is where my baby Camryn, was born. My heart has always stayed in Maui. I am utterly heartbroken.

When I first went to volunteer for the survivors of the fire, I was captivated by the community that rose to the occasion. It was a clear reminder to me, the importance of connection, compassion, and community amidst incomprehensible tragedy. I also had the privilege of hearing these horrible stories, which are reflective of how many systems have failed this beautiful, spiritual, historic land.

Many of you have reached out to me and asked what you can do to help, and I have thought about this for the past week.

After careful consideration, I am humbly requesting a donation to support the efforts to revive the community in Maui. I have started a GoFundme Page so that my friends/colleagues and I in the healing community can serve, buy necessary supplies from Oahu, and physically give to the survivors.

Please consider heavily supporting local Maui businesses during this time.

If you do feel compelled to visit, please consider staying at the Ecofriendly resort in Haiku. Support the shit out of the local businesses, do not shop at large corporations when visiting or really in general because guess what? They don’t give a single fuck about us. Target, Walmart, Costco have supplies they could have donated but they did not. These large corporations have sucked the life out of these precious communities and continue to do so, feeding off necessity.

Please pause and hesitate to donate to bigger corporations such as FEMA and Red Cross.

Please seriously consider and question the system that we are living. Within your family. Within your own community. Within our larger government.

100% of the proceeds will be going to the survivors and to the community , and I will provide receipts. I have considered working with local businesses to serve the community, perhaps a food truck, or another local business that has been negatively impacted by this tragedy. My goal is to keep the money within the community. I am open to suggestions, please email me at [email redacted]
