Michelle Ruiz: Help Me Bring My Dad Home

On August 4, my world turned upside down. My dad, Arturo Ruiz, was on his way to work when he was stopped by ICE and has been in detention ever since. He’s been held in terrible conditions, without access to basic needs, while we fight for his release.

My dad has lived in the U.S. for over 25 years. He’s a single father who raised me and my two brothers, Miguel and Marco, completely on his own. He’s also a grandfather to two young children, who love him more than anything. He’s worked hard every single day to provide for us, teach us to respect others, and stay active in our community.

In 2020, my dad got COVID-19, and the doctors told us he might not survive. Since then, his health has never fully recovered. Being detained now puts his health in danger.

I’m raising funds to cover the legal costs to fight his case and bring him home to us. Any amount you can give will help us in this fight and give my dad the chance to be with his children and grandchildren again.
