Hi. My name is Fred. I'm Michele's husband. In 2029 Michele was diagnosed with dementia. Which we believe is actually Alzheimers.

I looked after for 4 years in our home. In December of 2024 she became very aggressive with me and I could not longer care for her 24/7. She is currently in a personal care home in the area.

I have been going to visit her every day for 4 to 5 hours a day. I can not longer do that amount of time anymore. I go for 2 hours a day. But she needs more companionship than that now.

As her dementia has progress very fast. She can no longer walk by herself for fear of falling. I provided a walker for her to use however she no longer understands how to use it. She now walks without assistance and in danger of falling. She has fallen at least 7 times since she was placed in the personal care home.

She used to be a very Independented women and still believes she is. So when she wants to walk she just gets up and walks. However this endangers her health physically., as she is extremely unstable. She does not like to sit for long adding to her risk of physically damage to her.

Manitoba Health does not cover the cost of companionship. I will continue to go in 2 hours a day to be with her, but I also have to look after myself

Any contribution would be grateful and very helpful. This funds will be used to hire someone to be a companion to her for 2 hours day in the late afternoon. As I go in to visit and assist her in the morning.
