Michael's 6-Month Youth With a Mission Trip to Cambodia
Donation protected
Hey everyone!
In January 2025, I'll be heading out to Cambodia for six months with Youth With a Mission (YWAM and YWAM Battambang).
What is YWAM?
Youth With A Mission is a global movement of Christians from many cultures, age groups and Christian traditions dedicated to serving Jesus worldwide. Also known as YWAM (pronounced “WHY-wham”), we unite in a common purpose to know God and to make Him known.
When we began in 1960, our main focus was to help youth get involved in missions.
Today, we still focus on youth and include people of all ages. We have thousands of staff (called “YWAMers”) from nearly every country, including Indonesia, Nepal, Mozambique, and Colombia.
Why am I doing this?
After another year of growing in my faith and being increasingly involved with youth leadership and worship in Citygate Church, I feel so inspired to follow my calling wholeheartedly and with full commitment. Therefore I will be leaving my job and pressing forward towards Jesus, to help people, teach the word of God, and share what I've learned over my life following Jesus.
I began looking into mission opportunities abroad, and YWAM came up multiple times in searches and conversations. Looking into YWAM options, Cambodia stood out to me as a country with a horrific recent history and a high youth population to influence and share the love, hope and life that Jesus brings.
What will I be doing?
Month 1-3
During the first three months, I'll attend YWAM Bible School (DTS - Discipleship Training School), immerse myself in local culture and customs, and learn outreach.
Month 3-6
Over the final three months, I'll use what I've learnt to help in local churches and schools, carry out street work, run youth conferences and teach the gospel.
Months 6+
(Depending on the amount of funds raised)
I will be able to stay out in Cambodia longer to help the local churches, schools and villages.
How can you help?
I'll be covering all costs associated with the mission, but after a couple of people approached me and asked if they could contribute, I decided to set up a GoFundMe page to share my trip with friends and family.
It goes without saying - I'm buzzing to get going and incredibly grateful for anything anyone would like to contribute.
Thanks so much,
