Michael & Gen's Back the Baby Fund

"It's a boy!" Michael said in amazement, sitting beside Genevieve at her 20-week ultrasound. There was no mistaking it - the baby wanted to make it known.
Michael, a long-time stand-up comedian and mentor in Asheville, NC, was on hiatus to focus on starting a family. He was so excited to be a dad. Everything was falling in to place. He had a great job, was engaged to be married, had a baby boy on the way, and was looking forward to getting back on stage with new material.
Just three weeks after the ultrasound, Michael felt numbness on his right side and went to the hospital, where he was diagnosed with a hemorrhagic stroke. He was sent home with medication, but continued to decline. The morning after Easter he was unresponsive. He was rushed to the hospital, where a Burr hole surgery was performed to relieve pressure in his brain.
Michael showed improvement afterward. There were plans in place to send him to rehab. He lit up when Genevieve visited. They talked, held hands, listened to music, and felt the baby kick when he put his hand on her belly.
Over the course of his 13-day hospital stay, he began to deteriorate. Infection and jaundice set in. An MRI of the abdomen was performed, which showed an 8-cm mass on the pancreas that had spread to the surrounding lymph nodes. His cancer marker levels were extremely elevated and was thus diagnosed with stage-4 pancreatic cancer.
The day after the diagnosis, on April 15th, he passed away with his family by his side.
Now Genevieve's whole world has come crashing down. She is staying strong for the baby (Michael's legacy), but the thought of raising him without her soul mate of 12 years is unfathomable.
Your donation will be greatly appreciated and will be used towards helping Genevieve and the baby during this difficult time.
