Micah's ABA therapy

Donation protected
As most of our friends and family know, Micah was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) first when he was 4 years old and then confirmed again this past school year at age 6.  He is an amazing, loving, smart little boy, but his daily life isn't without challenges.  He can't follow multi-step directions easily, he does not process language as well as his peers, he slips into his own world multiple times a day, and gets very fixated on things easily.  Right now he is into Minecraft, megalodon sharks, bugs, and Roblox.  He scripts (repeats) lyrics to songs, scenes from movies and information as well as any highly educated person on a topic he's "studied".

We are beyond thankful for our ABA therapists and the wonderful clinic we were blessed to be able to get him into for therapy.  He started  last August going 3 days a week with an additional 1 day social skills class with other precious children like him.  He quickly met his set goals and was able to come down to going only 1 day a week and continued the social skills class.  However, we have had to fight our insurance tooth and nail for coverage.  We had a large deductible that had to be met before they would even consider paying their 80%.  In order for us to keep our spot we had to come up with more than $5,000.00 to cover the growing therapy bills from the past 9 months.

We have done all the things- applied for Medicaid (we've been denied once) however, our therapy group doesn't take Medicaid, applied for scholarships (we bring home too much),  tried to rearrange our personal budget to pay the almost $1,000 needed per month to catch up and continue.  We felt that we were going to have to give up his spot until money could be raised, found, borrowed, etc.  Just a side note- Mississippi is way behind most of the country in support for Autistic children.

As most mama's will understand, I wasn't giving up.  I fought back tears, took a paid for vehicle and went to the bank and begged- and I mean begged -for the personal loan that I needed in just short of a week.

We are so fortunate to have a banker and a bank that helped us and trusted us enough to give us the loan.  So, as I first planned, I am starting a fundraiser to raise the money to pay back what I so desperately borrowed so that my family won't suffer much with the additional payment (on top of a continuing therapy bill monthly).

Autism families are familiar with the saying "Until all the pieces fit..."  We have purchased a 252 piece puzzle created especially for Micah and this fundraiser.  Each family/individual's name that finds it in their heart to help us will be placed on a piece of the puzzle.  When all pieces have been "sponsored", we will sit down as a family and do one of Micah's favorite things, put together the puzzle.

We would love your support finically but also prayerfully as we continue this journey called life on the spectrum.  So, until all the pieces fit, we will be working hard to meet our goal!

Thank you all for taking the time to read this and giving if your heart leads!
