Mia’s Vascular Birthmark Supporters

Hello my name is Natasha and I’m starting this page to help my family ... since I was about 30 weeks pregnant with my daughter I was put on bed rest. So I wasn’t able to work for the remainder of my pregnancy. Which left my husband having to work twice as hard to pay our bills. He never complained about it because he knew he had to do what he had to in order to help provide for our family. With the help of some pineapple and lots of walking Mia arrived on 12/30/17 what a way to start the new year. She was born just about 7lbs 19 inches with the biggest brown eyes ever. She also was born with a huge birthmark on her right arm. At first we thought it would eventually disappear. But Unfortunately after going to the Vascular Birthmark Institute in New York City we soon found out it was a Segmental Infantile Hemangioma. She has been going to this institute since she was 3 weeks old.

Unfortunately for our daughter Mia her large hemangioma started to ulcerate. Ulcers are very painful, they have left Mia in chronic pain. I try all my “mommy” tricks to try and get her to relax. I spend most of my day trying to make her as comfortable as possible. Putting clothes on her is a nightmare, we’ve had to cut the arms off of clothing, we can only give her sponge baths. We can’t hold our daughters arms up, we can’t do basic things with our own child because of these ulcers. All we can do is soothe her and give her Motrin as she deals with this pain. I haven’t been able to return to work full time because of all her appointments and she just needs her mother at this time of need.

Her doctors Dr. O and Dr. Waner thought it best to remove the 3 ulcers with an emergency surgery, to relive Mia of this pain. The stitches in the wounds opened up and the ulcers continued to ulcer. The then 3 ulcers have turned into 5 painful ones. We travel to NYC every day for wound care. The doctors are nice enough to open there office for Mia on there weekends off just to change her dressings. Yes Proper wound care is working but Regranex would help her tremendously. But our insurance won’t cover the $1080 medication. We’ve reached out to Aetna and they denied her. I even reached out to the manufacturers of the medication only offering a $200 off coupon. For a family with only one income at the moment this is very difficult for us. Everything is very difficult for us. Bills are piling up but we are putting our daughters health bills first.

I’m not sure if you can help us but at this point I’m crying for it. My husband has been working so hard to try and keep the roof over our heads. As a mother it kills me that I can’t take this pain away from my child and it kills me that we can’t afford the proper medication for our precious Mia. No child should have to suffer this way. We are doing all we can to make ends meet, any kind of help would be greatly appreciated.

God Bless You and Thank you
