Mia’s trip to CAMBODIA with Camps International 2027

Donation protected
In the summer of 2027 I will have the incredible, once in a lifetime opportunity to travel to Cambodia with Camps International for 4 weeks to work on a series of grassroots projects designed to tackle poverty and environmental challenges.

This wouldn’t just be an amazing trip; it’s a commitment to supporting the UN sustainable development goals by working towards global challenges on a local scale. This comes with an understanding that many issues in sustainable development are interconnected, and therefore take a holistic approach to developing the projects, tackling the most critical humanitarian, wildlife and environmental issues ever present. Whilst in Cambodia we will be:
- building wells to provide drinking water
- Building toilets to provide better sanitation for the community
- Working on school improvement projects to create inspirational and stimulating learning environments
- Building chicken coops for food security
- Taking part in reforestation work
- Constructing village clay water pots to maximise water collection

I believe we have a responsibility to support one another and i want to put my time and energy towards projects that are meaningful and create long term change. The work we will be doing targets basic and vital human needs and whilst working alongside the local people we will tackle the challenges one step at a time.

Whilst the impact on the people and environment in Cambodia is the main focus, this opportunity will push me out of my comfort zone and provide me with new skills and allow me to build on the skills i already have : resilience, adaptability, global perspective, teamwork, leadership, problem solving. I love to get my hands dirty and prove that I CAN, this trip allows me to do this and as i become more and more aware of the state of our world and the impact of tourism, i have found this is the most sustainable and impactful way of doing so.

Every penny I raise will go towards the cost of the expedition, including building materials and school improvements as well as local labour we will support, you are directly funding the clay pots, bricks for schools and saplings for the forest. Any penny extra will be donated to charity to continue doing meaningful things.

To help me reach my goal I will be fundraising by completing a sponsored run as well as charity events to raise funds for myself but also other charities because i want my impact to be widespread.

I will continue to update this post with news from my fundraisers and sponsored events.

THANK YOU for aiding me in completing this wonderful project.
