Hola mi nombre es Ginyra y hace un mes, un incendio destruyó por completo el hogar de mi familia en Aruba. En solo minutos, mi mamá perdió todo lo que había construido con años de sacrificio como madre soltera.

Nuestra casa no era solo una casa. Era el resultado de años de trabajo duro, sacrificios y amor. Mi mamá hizo todo lo posible para que mi hermano y yo siempre tuviéramos un techo sobre nuestras cabezas y un lugar seguro al que llamar hogar. Poco a poco logró construir ese espacio para nosotros, incluso siendo madre soltera.

En ese incendio no solo perdimos nuestras pertenencias. También se perdieron 5,000 florines (aproximadamente €2,500) que mi mamá y mi hermano habían estado ahorrando para poder venir a mi graduación en junio. Era algo que significaba muchísimo para nosotros.

Actualmente estoy estudiando en España, lejos de mi familia, y ha sido muy difícil procesar todo lo que pasó. Durante semanas ni siquiera podía aceptar que esto fuera real. Por eso estoy abriendo este GoFundMe recién ahora.

Al principio pensábamos que el gobierno podría ayudar a mi mamá a reconstruir algo de lo que se perdió. Pero recientemente supimos que la ayuda será muy limitada y no alcanzará para reconstruir un espacio donde ella y mi hermano pueden vivir de forma segura.

También debo ser honesta, estas últimas semanas han sido muy difíciles para mí. Estoy en temporada de exámenes en la universidad, y he estado tratando de mantener el enfoque en mis estudios mientras intento aceptar que nuestro hogar ya no existe.

Pensar en todo lo que mi mamá está viviendo ahora mismo me rompe el corazón. Ella siempre ha sido fuerte por nosotros, y ahora quiero hacer todo lo posible para ayudarla.

Por eso estoy pidiendo ayuda.

El objetivo de esta campaña es recaudar fondos para ayudar a mi mamá a construir al menos un cuarto y poder tener nuevamente un techo propio mientras poco a poco intenta reconstruir su vida.

My Mom Lost Everything in a House Fire in Aruba — Help Us Rebuild Her Home

One month ago, a fire completely destroyed my family’s home in Aruba. In just a few minutes, my mom lost everything she had worked so hard to build as a single mother.

Our house was not just a place to live. It was the result of years of hard work, sacrifices, and love. My mom did everything she could to make sure my brother and I always had a roof over our heads and a safe place to call home. Little by little, she managed to build that home for us, even while raising us on her own.

In the fire, we didn’t only lose our belongings. We also lost 5,000 florins (approximately €2,500) that my mom and my brother had been saving for a long time so they could come to my graduation in June. It meant so much to all of us.

Right now I am studying in Spain, far away from my family, and it has been incredibly difficult to process everything that has happened. For weeks I couldn’t even believe that it was real, which is why I am only now finding the strength to start this GoFundMe.

At first, we believed the government would be able to help my mom rebuild after the fire. However, we recently learned that the support will be very limited and it won’t be enough to rebuild a safe place for her and my brother to live.

I also want to be honest, these past weeks have been very overwhelming for me. I am currently in the middle of exam season at university, and I’ve been trying to stay focused on my studies while also trying to come to terms with the fact that our home is gone.

Thinking about what my mom is going through right now breaks my heart. She has always been strong for us, and now I want to do everything I can to help her.

That’s why I am asking for help.

The goal of this campaign is to raise funds to help my mom rebuild at least one room so she can have a roof over her head again while she slowly tries to rebuild her life.

Any donation, no matter how small, would mean the world to us. And if you are not able to donate, sharing this campaign would also help us more than you can imagine.
