Caring for Kylee

Thank you for taking the time to read our story. We at Everlast Plumbing and Heating have decided to start this fundraiser to help our co worker Brad Somerville, and his family. With the health complications that Kylee has had since birth, there have been many trip's to the hospital locally, and the Stollery in Edmonton. Many days of work have been missed and travel costs are starting to pile up. The stress from having a child with health issues is extremely difficult on its own. We are hoping to raise enough money to help lessen some of financial stress and allow them to focus on the daily care of Kylee and her sister Kenzie.

Brad and Kristy are extremely kind and wonderful people. Kristy is a caring mother who is working very hard to care for both of their girls right now. Even in times of extreme stress that they are going through , she still finds time check in with their family and friends to make sure they are all doing ok during these crazy times. Brad is our commercial foreman and supervisor. Brad works hard every day and has not allowed the stress to affect his work. He is a leader at work and treats everyone the way he would want to be treated. Brad never complains, he come's to work and does his job without fail. We are all lucky to have people like Kristy, Brad, Kenzie, and Kylee in our lives. Any support that you can give would mean the world to them. I am sure that if it were anyone else in this position, Kristy and Brad would be the first one's to help out.

The following is a small write up Kristy did for us.

Kylee's story:

On March 25, 2021 at 12:01 AM , Kylee Kristen Somerville joined our family. Her first few hours seemed fine but later that day we started to realize Kylee was having feeding issues and her blood sugars were very low. She was then admitted to the GP NICU and that is where her story truly begins.

Since that day, she was flown to the Stollery NICU and has spent a total of 47 nights in both hospitals. She has had 2 Air Ambulance rides, 4 Ambulance rides, 3 surgeries (Supraglottoplasty, G-tube and Fundoplication), 2 MRI's, too many IV's, 3 different forms of oxygen support, scopes, ultrasounds and so many appointments every week.

Kylee's first diagnosis was a cleft palate and then she was also diagnosed with a rare genetic microdeletion on the 22nd chromosome. It does not have a name, and less than a handful of cases ever documented in medical literature. So we have no idea what her life will be like and what other issues or conditions she may face.

She also has laryngomalacia, Horner's syndrome (as well as other eye issues), severe reflux (which caused her breathing issues ), and feeding issues and developmental delays.

Kylee is currently on a 24 hour feeding pump as her body tries to adjust to taking more formula.

Kylee will have at least 1 more planned surgery for her cleft palate and potential eye surgery. She has been so strong and resilient through it all, it will be a long, hard road, and we have no idea what it will look like, But we are along for the ride.

Thank you for your consideration, we appreciate anything you can do for us even if it is just thought's and prayers.

Brad, Kristy, Kenzie and Kylee
