Free Appliance Services for Those in Need

Donation protected

We run our own appliance repair, cleaning/sanitizing, and dryer and dryer duct cleaning company.

Months ago we launched a program to provide free appliance services to those in need in light of COVID-19 and the economic devastation that followed and will linger for years.

We have since run two iterations of our program to provide appliance services to those in need. We have so far provided over $2000 in free parts and donated nearly $1000 to the Daily Bread Food Bank with the surplus funds.

Demand for our free appliance services has risen sharply as awareness of our program spreads. We have therefore restructured our program to be continuous as opposed to running month-long iterations; demand is high enough that there will be no surplus funds. During the last iteration donations were unable to cover many parts and we had to ask those in need to cover the wholesale cost.

Our program is based on the honour system; there are no official requirements to qualify as we take people at their word. We do not want to harm the dignity of others by demanding that they prove they are in financial need.

That being said we have been careful to manage the funds donated. At times this has meant triaging those in need which at times meant denying free parts if the cost was too high and they could not afford the wholesale cost. We made these difficult decisions to balance helping others while managing the funds to help as many people as possible.

We will also be updating this GoFundMe with every free appliance call, as well as keeping a running total of all funds.

Since the last iteration we have greatly streamlined our company's infrastructure. We made the difficult decision to no longer work the calls together. Bukky will be working in the office full-time managing calls, bookings, and parts supply. Nathan will be working the calls alone.

Lastly, a reminder that we have the strictest safety protocols of any appliance service company: we arrive donning gloves and PAPRs (Powered Air Purifying Respirators); we observe social distancing; and, we sanitize work and appliance surfaces proceeding the service.
