Metrix Create:Space

Hi,  I'm Matt Westervelt, the owner and proprieter of Metrix Create:Space in Seattle,  a seven year old open-to-the-public makerspace in Seattle, Washington.   Since it's opening day on October 15, 2009, I've been helping people with their art projects, inventions, small business needs and more in every way that I possibly can.   I love what I do and I come in to work excited every day because I never know what's going to happen and who I'm going to meet.    My customers are my family and I feel lucky to know each and every one of you.  I've included a news story from a few years ago to give you a little background if we've never met.

Yesterday, I got an email invitation to visit the White House and talk about makerspaces at their Nation of Makers event in Washington DC.  They're interested in my experiences running Metrix Create:Space, and what it is that people in Seattle are creating.  

This is an amazing opportunity to let the nation know what we are doing in Seattle, and I would be proud to answer this call to participate.

The trip is in a couple of weeks and Metrix doesn't have any sort of travel budget.  I don't have any sort of travel budget, and when all is said and done, there's no real way for me to do this on my own.

Metrix Create:Space and the community that has formed there is extremely important to me, and if we can raise the funds for this trip, our community will be represented at the White House(!!).

If you would like to chip in, I would be so grateful and proud to be a voice for us.

The event is on August 24th, and I'm not sure what flight and hotel availability will be like as the time gets closer.  I've estimated the goal at $2000 for neccessary travel expenses, but maybe I can do it cheaper.   I am so thankful to you for reading this, and considering sending any amount of money.
