Mercy & Jo were my grandma’s devoted helpers and caretakers for 20 years.
When my grandma passed in 2018, I went to Hong Kong to take them out and about for a week of food, fun, and pampering before they returned home to the Philippines for their retirement.
These two have touched the lives of many. People who contributed to our GoFundMe that week were able to see their donations spark joy in real time. The amount we didn’t end up spending helped Mercy put her daughter Regina through her final year of college. And just last year Mercy was able to walk Regina down the aisle as a beautiful proud mama.
With all the darkness going on in the world (even before this weeks new atrocities) I needed something fun and joyful to do rather than doomscroll all day. So I decided I was long overdue for a visit to the Philippines for the first time in my life to see two of my favorite people. I want to take these ladies out for another weekend of fun with their families (and also have a semi secret plan to help start a business that will set them up forever…more on that to come.)
I know there are much more important and urgent causes to donate to at this point in time, but if you want to see your dollars turn into squeals and smiles during this dark and depressing time, I promise I will happily help put them to good use in creative, hilarious, joyful ways. (I will spend my own money on myself. I’ve already covered their flights and hotel. All funds contributed will go to Mercy & Jo and their family’s other travel and fun expenses and anything leftover will be given to them to enjoy as they wish.)
