The Merbein Murals Project is a community-led vision to transform Merbein into Australia’s Mural Capital!
A small group of passionate volunteers have joined forces with internationally acclaimed mural artist Fintan Magee to paint a large scale mural on the wall of Qualia Wines (original IPC Packing Shed), in Merbein’s Game Street.
This mural will tell the story and history of Merbein including:
- Indigenous activities at Zoologist Blandowski’s camp at Chaffey Landing (1857)
- Establishment of irrigation settlement-E.J.Kenny (1909)
- Early industries Dried Fruit/Citrus/Wine
- Soldier settlement (1917)
- Palm trees and township identity
Project budget
$60,500 including 10% contingency.
With over one third of the budget funds already secured, we are expanding our fundraising to community donations. Alongside this, a targeted fundraising strategy is underway to ensure this project comes to fruition.
Everyone who contributes to this exciting project via the GoFundMe will receive an acknowledgement on our social media pages to thank you for your support.
Alongside this- we have established tiered sponsorship options for larger contributions.
This exciting project has the potential to reinvigorate the Merbein tonwship and business district, but it will take a whole of community approach.
If you have any questions about the project please reach out to us either via email, or facebook, or directly to one of our committee members.
