Mental Health to a Rural Community in Ecuador

Hello,

I am Alejandro Bejarano, Co-founder and Executive Director of Mental Health Ecuador (Salud Mental Ecuador). This organization has the mission to improve the mental health of Ecuadorians through a free and anonymous live chat, low-cost virtual therapies, content-creation about mental health topics, virtual and in-person events, and rural community outreach projects related to mental health.

To achieve one of our mission components (rural community outreach projects related to mental health), we need your help! Many rural communities in Ecuador have never had a mental health workshop and do not have the necessary resources or information to access free online services.

In alliance with ORAGEPSI (Ecuadorian Psychologists Association), we plan to go to a rural community called Pechiche (Parroquia Chanduy) in Santa Elena province on November 26 to 27. We will provide mental health workshops; analyze other projects we could do in the future related to community tourism, technology, the economy, and other areas that could benefit the community's mental health. Plus, we will film a documentary about the project and the rural community to make them known in Ecuador (as requested by rural communities).

Necessary Costs:

We performed a Gender-Based Analysis to include the rural communities throughout this project (making them the leaders of the impact we should have with this goal), and we will support the rural community by providing this project for free and paying them for the food during those two days.
