Mental Health Project in Fiji
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Lily and as part of my university studies in psychology, I have been offered an incredible opportunity to join a 4-week mental health project in Fiji during the summer of 2025. During this volunteering experience I will be living with a local Fijian family, immersing myself in their culture while contributing to addressing the pressing global mental health crisis.
While Fiji is often portrayed as a paradise, the reality for many rural communities is quite different. Mental health remains a heavily stigmatised and underserved area. I’ll be volunteering with Think Pacific, an ethical organisation that works in direct partnership with the Fijian government to deliver sustainable projects. These initiatives provide funding, resources, and support to help local communities achieve their development goals — all while empowering Fiji’s youth and creating long-term opportunities for future generations.
My days will begin with mental health workshops designed to foster supportive conversations and raise awareness. Afternoons will be spent engaging in cultural activities to build genuine connections within the community. In a country where mental health is still a taboo topic, our work will help challenge stigma, promote positive attitudes, and lay the groundwork for ongoing change.
I’m fundraising to cover project fees, which directly contribute to the community's development and help sustain Think Pacific’s impactful work. Any donation, big or small, will make a meaningful difference — not just for my journey, but for the communities we aim to support.
