My father, Ken Duval, passed away on October 27, 2025. He was well known in our local community and left a lasting impression on everyone who met him.
Ken was an avid mule trainer and mechanic. Using his welding skills, he built a mule-drawn cart that he drove all over town — even to the grocery store. He entered many parades throughout Siskiyou County and was truly a sight you couldn’t forget. He was also a top hand with the Back Country Horsemen, volunteering countless hours in the national forest clearing trails.
Many will remember his automobile repair shop, Weed Garage, located behind the Pizza Factory in Weed.
I am raising funds to cover my father’s cremation and memorial expenses.
Girdner’s Funeral Home charges $3,000 for cremation, of which I have already paid $600 out of pocket.
Any funds raised beyond cremation costs will go toward a celebration of life memorial, which I hope to host for family and friends at our family property on Greenhorn Road in Yreka, on Ken’s birthday in August 2026. My goal is to give everyone who loved him the chance to gather, remember him, and celebrate his life the way he deserves.
Thank you so much for your support, kindness, and for helping honor my father’s memory.
