Help Us Honor a Lifetime of Service: Coach Ralph Glenn Memorial Field

A Life of Service Through Soccer
For more than 25 years, Ralph Glenn devoted countless hours to the game of soccer, driven by a genuine love for supporting kids, families, and his community.

We are raising funds to support the naming of a new soccer field at Calavo County Park in honor of Ralph’s extraordinary legacy of service. This field will stand as a lasting tribute to a man who showed up—week after week, year after year—to make youth sports possible for countless players and families.

Field Name: Coach Ralph Glenn Memorial Field

Ralph’s Impact on the Soccer Community
Ralph volunteered in nearly every role imaginable, including:
  • Spring Valley/Lemon Grove AYSO Coach
  • Spring Valley/Lemon Grove AYSO Commissioner
  • Monte Vista High School JV Coach
  • Recreational and high school referee
  • And the behind-the-scenes work that often goes unnoticed: setting up and taking down fields, lining them, and hauling trash home at the end of long days
He led by example, showing up consistently, treating people with kindness, and giving freely of his time. Whether coaching his daughter’s teams, mentoring referees, or quietly doing the work that keeps leagues running, Ralph led with humility, patience, and heart.

A Life Rooted in Service
Ralph Glenn lived a life rooted in service—to his family, his community, and his country. He served in the United States Navy and later continued that service as a civilian Computer Specialist and Project Manager with SPAWAR, completing a remarkable 38-year Naval career.

Outside of work, Ralph poured that same sense of commitment into soccer. His warmth, leadership, and generosity left a lasting mark on everyone who knew him.

Ralph passed away on January 24, 2019, after a courageous battle with cancer. While he is deeply missed, his impact continues to live on through the countless lives he touched—on the field and beyond.

How You Can Help
Funds raised will help cover the official costs associated with naming the field in his honor. Any contribution, large or small, is deeply appreciated. By supporting this effort, you’re helping ensure that Ralph’s legacy of service, leadership, and love for the game lives on for future generations.

About Calavo County Park
Calavo County Park is a new 9.3-acre community park being built off Calavo Drive, north of Jamacha Boulevard, near local schools and housing. Ralph lived just minutes from this site for 43 years, making this location especially meaningful to the Glenn family. Designed with community input, the park will offer recreational amenities for residents of all ages. Construction began in Fall 2024 and is expected to be completed by Summer/Fall 2026, creating a lasting space for youth sports and community connection in Spring Valley.
