Help Melody make ends meet, then make it to Massachusetts

Hey there, everyone. My name is Alexis, and my girlfriend Melody is in a very tight bind—so we are opening this campaign to raise money to help her. Originally, she was going to move to Massachusetts with me from Alabama, though a sudden engine issue has left her without a vehicle and having to pay off the existing $9,000 in loans on it. While the car is valued at $6,000 or so, the engine repair would cost $15,000. It isn't worth keeping, and insurance won't cover a non-collision loss.

Melody works in IT as a field technician, so a vehicle is a must for her to work. This means not only is she paying off the existing vehicle, but she also has to buy a new vehicle.

Complicating matters further, Melody is moving in with her parents in the meantime as she can't afford rent alone in Alabama, nor do I have the funds to support her from Massachusetts. She is semi-openly transgender, and her family is not supportive. As a result, it is imperative we get her out of the situation as soon as possible—especially as her family is mandating she cut her hair and go to (essentially) Conversion Therapy as a stipulation of moving back.

In total, this fundraiser is seeking to accomplish a few goals:

Raise $9,000 to cover the cost of the existing, now undrivable vehicle. This will allow her to pay off existing debt, securing the funds for financial independence from her parents.

Raise $1,000 to cover the cost of the move. This will allow Melody to leave Alabama and get to the far safer, for her and queer folk in general, Massachusetts to be with those who truly love her for who she is, not who she was seen as.

Raise approximately $5,000 to cover the cost of a used car to act as a beater—four wheels and a reliable engine to get from A to B—and allow her to continue working in her field in her new location.
