Melissa's Take A Break
Donation protected
In 1986 I met my life long best friend. It was at a birthday party and I didn’t know anyone. I was scared and wanted to go home, but my new friend convinced me to stay. It has been 32 years since that birthday party and my Melissa has been there for me every day. I know we all have an experience where we can recall Melissa going out of her way to help someone. She never says no, she jumps in, goes over and beyond, she doesn’t hesitate. She happily volunteers her time and her talents. She willingly takes charge which is typically full steam ahead.
When Melissa found out that her mom had terminal cancer it turned her world upside down. Even though Melissa is a single mom, has a full-time job, gives her kids everything they need, she continues to be a constant support system for her mom and everyone around her. No matter what is happening in her world she holds her head high and forges through each day, continuing to provide help to whoever is in need. Melissa is a generous mom, friend and co-worker. She is genuinely a gift to all who get to be around her.
Because of all she gives to everyone else, it’s time to give her a break from the reality she has been dealt. I want her shoulders relax. I want her to take a deep breath and genuinely smile. I want to give her precious, uninterrupted time with her mom. Time neither one of them will ever forget. After speaking with several friends, it was decided this would be a wonderful way to show Melissa how much she is loved. Due to her mom, Kim’s current health condition, we also determined we needed to keep this secret getaway close.
This is how we came to the idea of Grand View Lodge in Nisswa, MN. I picture a cabin in the woods, a gift basket full of surprises waiting on their beds, a few leisurely mornings with breakfast delivered to the cabin. Multiple spa visits for Melissa and Kim (if her health allows), flowers placed in every room and meals prepared by someone other than either of them. I want them to enjoy quiet walks around the resort, the sun warming them on the beach and relaxing hours spent around a crackling bonfire.
If you are interested in being a part of this surprise and helping with the expense, please feel free to donate. When the details have been taken care of, we will be holding a get together where we can all give her this gift that she will have a hard time accepting (for those of you who have tried to give her a gift, you know what I mean!). Details on that to follow.
Thank you for your support!
Remember….shhhhhh….she is very hard to surprise!
