My name is Jason and I am setting this fundraiser up on behalf of my best friend Melanie Bayliss.
In Early December 2025 Mel was told that cancer cells had appeared in her blood and she was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of womb cancer at the end of December 2025 after initially being told by her GP that it was Adenomyosis.
By the middle of January 2026 she was told that it had already progressed to Stage 3 and in early February she was told it was stage 4. She was initially scheduled for historectomy surgery in January 2026 but due to some miscommunication between the consultant hospital (Newcastle RVI) and the hospitals where she was initially being treated (James Cook and North Tees) and some scans being missed, the surgery was cancelled and a month long delay ensued whilst the correct scans were performed and next steps were discussed
Mel has 3 young children, her eldest, Logen is 11 (12 this year), she has a 5 year old boy, Caelum (6 this year) and a 2 year old girl, Melody (3 this year). The 2 boys have already lost their dad to an agrressive cancer back in 2020 without the youngest boy ever meeting his dad and now they have the devastating news that their mother is battling cancer as well
A few days ago, Mel received the news that her cancer is not currently operable due to the tumour wrapping itself around one of her kidneys and has started affecting other organs, so she is currently undergoing aggressive chemotherapy at a hospital in Newcastle, with the hope that it will shrink the tumour back down to an operable size
The reason this fundraiser has been launched is to help to support her partner and her children whilst she is undergoing treatment in hospital, to assist with costs whilst Mel is in hospital and, with the hope that Mel will get discharged and be able to recover at home eventually, to build some precious memories with her family just in case things take a turn for the worse.
Please consider donating to Mel and her family. This has been a pretty short, but very emotional and stressful road for them all and we are hoping and praying for the best possible outcome for Mel so that her children don't have to go through the heartache of losing a second parent to this awful disease.
Thank you so much for reading.
